The establishment of the court

The Court of Arbitration at the Polish Confederation Lewiatan is a separate and fully independent entity having its own Governing Bodies.

The Court of Arbitration at the Confederation of Lewiatan (SAKL) is a modern arbitration court that enables entrepreneurs to resolve disputes efficiently.

Project „Promotion of amicable methods of resolving economic conflicts”

In the years 2009 – 2011, the project „Promotion of amicable methods of solving economic conflicts” was carried out in SAKL, which was co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund. The aim of the project was both to promote arbitration as a dispute resolution method among Polish entrepreneurs, and to promote Polish arbitration among foreign entities doing business in Poland. The activities of the project, which covered over 3,000 lawyers and entrepreneurs, were recognized by them as a great success of the Court.

Project „Competitiveness of Arbitration”

In 2013-2014, another project was implemented – „Competitiveness of Arbitration” – co-financed by the European Union under the Human Capital Operational Programme. As part of the Project, many activities were organized to emphasize the competitiveness of arbitration in relation to common courts in three areas: knowledge, technology and legislation. Within the first area, three types of training were organized: for attorneys, arbitrators and future arbitration trainers. The second area focused on the creation of an electronic Intranet of the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration (ISAL) supporting the conduct of arbitration proceedings. The third one was aimed at developing new legislative assumptions and resulted in the publication ”Diagnoza Arbitrażu. Functioning of the law on arbitration and directions of proposed changes”  (along with the organization of a conference with the same title), and finally the publication of the „White Book of Arbitration” containing proposed changes in the KPC. The project was also full of many events accompanying the indicated goals.

Lewiatan Arbitration Competition

In 2012, SAKL organized the first edition of the Lewiatan Arbitration Competition (KAL), the largest moot court competition in Poland for advocate and legal adviser trainees. KAL consists in preparing a case solution inspired by real arbitration proceedings, and then the participants assume the roles of the parties’ attorneys, whose task is to develop a strategy for handling the case, prepare a pleading and represent the party during the arbitration hearing. So far, there have been 9 editions of KAL, in which over 250 teams from all over Poland took part.
