• W 1995 ukończył Punahou School w Honolulu, gdzie uzyskał dyplom z wyróżnieniem. W 1999 ukończył studia na Yale University. 
• W 2003 ukończył kursy z francuskiego prawa cywilnego oraz prawa Unii Europejskiej na University of Lyon.
• W latach 2004 ukończył studia na University of Minnesota uzyskując tytuł doktora nauk prawnych, gdzie brał udział w Jessup International Moot Court.
